Day 28

Went to Trinoma to:

1) have my hair cut

2) pay my credit card bill

3) watch 2 movies - The Impossible and Hansel & Gretel : Witch Hunters

4) buy a wall socket to replace the one I busted

5) go malling

6) follow up my iPhone application at Globe

7) get the North Face backpack I had repaired at Travel Club 

A very rare sight. Usually this area is packed with people. I shall now strive to go here on Mondays.

Of the above listed activities, I didn't get to do #4. Handyman was closing up when I went there at 8:30pm. Quickly, I just grabbed a bathroom scale, something I've been meaning to buy for months. I guess the socket will have to wait.

I read somewhere that Trinoma means Triangle North of Manila. But someone at work said it means North Triangle Mall. In this age of Google, with just a few clicks I can find the answer. But at two in the morning, like the wall socket, I am inclined to let the answer wait another day.

P.S.  I didn't get my North Face backpack. After almost 3 months, they only repaired the netted side pockets. The water-proofing they left out because according to Marlon the salesman, they want to charge me 30%. What?!? 30% of the orig cost of the backpack??? No way. North Face backpacks come with lifetime warranty. What are they talking about? Hmp. Marlon says I will hear from him after 3 days. Yeah, right. Last time I heard that promise, I waited 3 months for a frigging result.

Day 27

Stayed home the whole day yesterday. After 3 days at work, it was a welcome thing.  When night time fell, this is what greeted me when I went out. Nice, eh?

Day 26

No posts for 2 days. Spent them at work.

The temp inside last night was what we jokingly refer to as "pang-karne" (for meat storage). 

Here's our assigned postbay - Bay 18. We are now on our third season of Game n' Go - reformatted and retitled as Game 'N Go All Stars. Our new season starts on Sunday, June 27 at 12NN on TV5.

Day 22

Shit. This happened when i pulled the cord of my laptop. Sigh. One more thing to add to my 1-yr-old to-do list.

It sucks when they use sub-par materials.

Day 21

This installation is made from old cellphones. It's displayed at the cinema level of Greenbelt 3 which I took a picture of when I watched Les Miserables. I wanted to take closer shot but my point-and-shoot cam was acting up. I couldn't seem to get the right settings. It didn't help that my eyes were puffy from crying :-) My glasses weren't any help.

Day 20

Finally. Watched this with my friend Norma at the Greenbelt 3 cinemas. Tickets were at Php230 each. Ha! But we gotta watch it in 2D otherwise, why watch at all, right?

I saw the 20th anniversary of Les Miserables with Lea Salonga as Eponine. (It was aired on a local channel, if I remember right). Recently, I downloaded its 25th anniversary concert (2010) performed at the O2 in England. Lea played Fantine this time. (What a gal!) I don't know how or why, but I found myself weeping when Valjean (played by Alfie Boe) sang the song after the priest has forgiven him for stealing the silver.

Naturally, I was ready to weep during the movie. And I did. The soliloquy after the priest forgave him for stealing the silver was so moving.  And I wept. I think I wept every other scene. Ah... Hugh Jackman. Hugh Jackman. Hugh Jackman... you break my heart.

"One word from him and I'd be back beneath the lash, upon the rack. Instead he offers me my freedom, I feel my shame inside me like a knife. He told me that I have a soul, how does he know?What spirit comes to move my life? Is there another way to go?"

Hugh dropped some pounds to play this scene. Admirable.

Les Miserables always gets me.... everytime.

Day 19

ROBINSONS MAGNOLIA

If this mall is not always this crowded, I think I'm gonna like it here :-)

My friend Gel and I decided to watch The Life of Pi here firstly, because I haven't been to this mall, and secondly, their last screening of the movie is at 10pm.  (He needed to watch Magpakailan Man on GMA7 because he is the talent coordinator of the show). I wanted to walk around a bit but decided to buy the tickets first. Good decision because, there were not too many seats left.

Row M is the last row - mine is J10. I was there early and I bought the tickets, so the nearer seat is mine, that's just fair. Haha.

Alas, I was so disappointed. Not of the movie but the theater experience. For Php211, you would think it'll be in 2D. (Well, that's what the ticket seller said). Hell no! The first reel (you'll know because you'd see the end of the reel)  was blurry, and the colors are faded like I was watching an old movie. The sound is not THX quality, something you'd expect when they say it's in 2D. Fuck. This is robbery. Sigh. Now this is why I prefer watching in Ayala Cinemas. Because when they say 2D, you'll really know it's 2D. When I watched The Hobbit last year, wow! I was soooo impressed. The images were so crisp, and you hear everything!!! I think, I will not watch a movie here again. I'll stick to Trinoma or Glorietta.

Day 18

This was from the daughter of the helper who comes once week to clean and do the laundry. Myrene gave this to me yesterday and said she didn't prompt her kid to write this. She was just as surprised as I was. I am touched. Kids sometimes make you realize what is important in life.

Tacked the note to the fridge so it'll cheer me up every time i feel crappy about myself.

This one stars Billy Crystal and Bette Midler - both are favorites. Been a fan of Bette since Beaches ( I have 2 of her CDs and some downloaded songs) and Billy... well, Billy is Billy. I don't know but I find him very funny. Go figure.

Day 17

More gifts from friends.

This tea I got from Eden. Am tasting it now and it's good. There's a fruity taste to it. I really hope it does what it says on the box - so I'm always ready for my close-up. Haha. 

Also from Eden, is this. I love girly things. Upon closer look, I asked myself - "What the hell is a bath caviar?" :-) Do I eat it ? Do I eat while I use this in the shower?

Then it dawned on me - is this like bath salts?

Aha! 

Tsk. I don't have a bath tub. That's for the rich and famous. Still I gotta think how I can use this.

This one is from Chel, an old friend. (not literally old but yah know, old old as in, i-knew-her-in-high-school old). Ah now this one, I LOVE.  A small towel in my fave color - lavender. An addition to my yoga towels. I miss yoga.

Day 16

Greenbelt Residences

Conti's Greenbelt 2

A batchmate from high school is in Manila now. After the usual dinner (at Conti's), he invited us up to see his apartment at the Residences in Greenbelt. I know, i know ... my shots are crappy. Hey, my eyes aren't what they used to be, so chill. Besides, I didn't want to infringe on their privacy and take lots of pictures. Plus, I didn't have the gear. But I was so impressed with how they designed their place -- all that STORAGE, like it was nobody's business!

A sliver of the fruitcake and blue cheese. Who would have thought it's divine?

We had coffee (Starbucks, freshly ground) and Mango Bravo (from Conti's) AND this heavenly fruitcake which his partner, Roger made. He put blue cheese on it and wow!!!  The taste just explodes in your mouth. It's weird but I love it. I could get used to this. Ah, the life!!! Hahaha.

Roger made this in October (in California) and brought here. Now I know what real fruitcake should taste like.

This is the Starbucks on Mindanao Avenue, just outside the gate of Charbel Executive Village. It is also the nearest branch to where I live. Like the one at The Fort, this has a drive-thru.

Not the best shot, I know but all Starbucks interiors are cool to the eyes if you ask me. :-)

And of course that coffee shot. (Not again!!! insert rolling eyes here).

Well, she got my name right, I'll give her that. AND she got all my requests right, too.

This came with the Wicked water-bottle, from my friend Cathy who is in Singapore right now. She knows my weakness for chocolates. :-) A true friend
